Orkhon Valley is located in Central Mongolia in territory of Uvurkhangai and Arkhangai province. It was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing evolution of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two millennia in 2004. Uvurkhangai province uncludes the site of the ancient capital city of Chinggis Khan – Kharkhorin – the capital city of what was the largest Land Empire the World had ever known, either before or since.

Sightseeing in Ulaanbaatar city, the capital of Mongolia
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar – Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune
The tour starts by driving to Elsen Tasarkhai. Elsen Tasarkhai is a crossing that extends about 80 km and lies between Mongol Els and Khugnu Tarma Els. It is also called small Gobi.

Day 3: Elsen Tasarkhai – Kharkhorin
Visiting Kharkhorin. The city was established in 1220. Kharkhorin was the capital of Mongolia for 140 years and the capital of the Mongol Empire for 32 years. The Erdenezuu monastery and ruin of Kharkhorin were registered by UNESCO in world heritage in 1996. Major tourist attractions included in the day tour are Erdenezuu monastery, newly built Kharkhorin museum, Penis rock and the Turtle rock.
Day 4: Kharkhorin
Today we stay at Kharkhorin further exploring the ancient capital of Mongol Empire
Day 5: Kharkhorin – Khushuu Tsaidam
Today we go to Khushuu Tsaidam Monuments which are two memorial installations in the Khushuu Tsaidam region on the western Orkhon River in Mongolia, near Ugii Lake. They were erected by the Gokturks in the early 8th century and today are part of the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape UNESCO world heritage site.
The Old Turkic inscriptions on these monuments are the oldest extant attestation of that language.
Day 6: Khushuu Tsaidam – Khar Balgas – Kharkhorin
We go to Khar Balgas also known as Ordu-Baliq was the capital of first Uyghur Empire, built on the site of the former Göktürk imperial capital, 17 km north-to-northwest of the Mongol Capital Kharkhorin. It form part of the World Heritage Site Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape.
Day 7: Kharkhorin – Talbiun camp
The tour continues to the ger camp Talbiun where we spend the day. Talbiun tourist camp is located in the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape. More specifically at the beautiful scenario of Khaalgan Denj, Khujirt Sum of the Uvurkhangai Aimak the heartland of ancient nomads, on the south shore of the River Orkhon. Talbiun camp is ideally located at the main gateway to the highlights of Central Mongolia.
Day 8: Talbiun camp
A day without a car – We stay at Talbiun camp.
We visit local nomadic families and familiarize with their everyday chores such as milking cow and horse. Then we try dairy products with Mongolian traditional milk tea. Walking through the valley and seeing rock paintings and grab stones around the camp.
Day 9: Talbiun camp – Tuvkhun monastery
Tuvkhun monastery – on the peak of of the Undur Shireet with 2312m high which locates in the boundary of Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai aimags. You can walk or ride horse to the peak of the mountain. It was erected by Zanabazar in 1654 the smooth grand of the south slope of steep rock with 20 m high and has 14 small temples. This creation of the temple has enjoyed state protection since 1998 and was registered by UNESCO in the world heritage by grading “The most wonderful valuable object” in 1996.
Day 10: Talbiun camp – Temeen Chuluu – Orkhon Waterfall
Today we visit Orkhon waterfall one of the famous attractions of Orkhon Valley. On the way to the waterfall we will see Temee Chuluu grab.
Day 11: Talbiun – Shankh monastery – Khustain Nuruu
Driving to Khustain Nuruu National Park
The mountain is in Tuv aimag, about 90 km from Ulaanbaatar. The mountain has an elevation of 1842 m above sea level. The national reserve covers 900 km2, and has been enjoyed state protection since 1993 to conserve bio-diversity and facilitate the re-introduction to the wild of Takhi (Przewalski’s Wild horse).
On the way we will visit Shankh monastery which is one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Mongolia, founded in 1647 by Zanabazar. It is located from our camp Talbiun 50 km. Monastery Shankh near Khar Khorin. According to Professor of German Archaelogical Institude Hans-Georg Huettel, who led the archaelogical expedition with Mongolia-German team, building of the monastery is Uguudei palace in miniature and provide an illustrative Impression of its architecture, even if it built only centuries later.
Day 12: Khustain Nuruu – Ulaanbaatar
Coming back to Ulaanbaatar.
Day 13: Ulaanbaatar
Go shopping in UB for souvenirs
In the evening we will have farewell dinner with Mongolia-Travel team while we discuss about our tour and exchange thoughts and ideas.
Spend night in hotel.
Day 14: Departure
Last day of your trip.
