Introduction

The Gobi Desert is the source of many important fossil finds, including prehistoric stone implements and the first dinosaur eggs. Mongolian sand dunes are almost as same as territory of Belgium in size. We are going to visit sand dune Khongor Els the longest sand dune of Mongolian 33 Gobi deserts. Khongor Els has an extraordinary length of 180 km with 3-5 km width and 20 km in some areas.

Program

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia
Transfer from airport to the hotel
Sightseeing in Ulaanbaatar city

Day 2: Dalanzadgad – Bayanzag

Flight from Ulaanbaatar to Dalanzadgad (duration: 1 hour 30 minutes)
Then by jeep to Bayanzag, visiting Flaming cliff, Saxaul forest (100 km, 2 hours)
First night in a Ger-Camp

Day 3: Sand dune Khongor Els

Drive to Khongor Els sand dune also known as the ‘Singing dunes’ (165 km, 5 hours)
It has an extraordinary length of 180 km and 15-20m wide lies on the northern part of the mountains of Sevree and Zuulen.

Day 4: Khongor Els – Singing dune

Stay at the Khongor Els sand dune. It is part of the desert zone, which takes up 2.7%of the country’s territory. There is an oasis near Khongor Gol at the northern edge of the sand dune (50 km)
Activities: Riding Bactrian camels, visiting a nomadic family

Day 5: Canyon of Yolyn Am

Drive to and visit the Canyon of Yolyn Am in Gobi Three Beauty National Park (200 km, 6 hours)
Yolyn Am is the narrow canyon of a river which flows through Zuun Saikhan Uul (2815m), 62 km northwest of Dalanzadgad town

Day 6: Dalanzadgad – Ulaanbaatar

Coming back by domestic flight to Ulaanbaatar
Go shopping in UB for souvenirs
Spend night in hotel

Day 7: Departure

Last day of your trip.
Transfer to airport
