Gorkhi - Terelj National Park is a picturesque place of high cliffs eroded in Mesozoic granites, creating a wonderful landscape of granite ‘tors’. Wind, rain, frost, ice and natural acids into bizarre shapes have eroded huge blocks of granite, as if by some giant sculptor.
Gobi: The Gobi Desert is the source of many important fossil finds, including prehistoric stone implements and the first dinosaur eggs.
Mongolian sand dunes are, in territory, almost the same as Belgium in size. We will visit the sand dune Khongor Els, the longest sand dune in the 33 Gobi deserts of Mongolia. Khongor Els has an extraordinary length of 180 km with a 3-5 km width and up to 20 km in some areas.
Khangai: Ar- and Uvurkhangai are provinces that located in the centre region of Mongolia. They include World Heritage Centre Orkhon Valley and numerous archaeological remains of the nomads. With this tour you will see the most interesting attractions of this area.
Khuvsgul: Khuvsgul has at its jewel the vast lake of Khuvsgul Nuur, one of the World’s largest lakes, big enough to the regarded as an inland sea-yet of pure fresh water. The western and eastern parts of the aimag are mountainous, and the aimag is mostly covered with forests. There is a huge phosphate deposit, the largest in Asia. Reindeer herders live here.

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar – Terelj National Park
Arrival in Mongolia

Sightseeing in Ulaanbaatar city, the capital of Mongolia
Our tour starts by a trip to Terelj National Park. Terelj tourist zone has a number of “tourist camps”. It is connected with Ulaanbaatar by a paved road the main road to the East. The park has many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes two famous formations named for things they resemble: Turtle Rock and the Old Man Reading a Book.
Day 2: Terelj national park – Ulaanbaatar
Coming back to Ulaanbaatar.
Day 3: Ulaanbaatar – Baga Gazriin Chuluu
Head to a beautiful rock formation in Dundgobi province Baga Gazriin Chuluu. Once this rock encampment was home to a small monastery with a few dozen monks.The main stop of today was a series of rock formations called Baga Gazriin Chuluu. These granite rocks with yellow sandy plains reminded some of our tourists of the cartoon of Lucky Luke.
Day 4: Baga gazriin chuluu – Three Camel Lodge
Travel to Three Camel Lodge, built in the heart of the Gobi according to environmentally and culturally sustainable development guidelines. The Three Camel Lodge offers a blend of adventure and sophistication, combining traditional style with superb service to create the ultimate expedition experience.
Day 5: Three Camel Lodge – Canyon Yolyn Am
Drive to and visit the Canyon of Yolyn Am in Gobi Three Beauty National Park.
Yolyn Am is the narrow canyon of a river which flows through Zuun Saikhan Uul (2815m), 62 km northwest of Dalanzadgad town.
Day 6: Three Camel Lodge – Khongor Els sand dune
Drive to Khongor Els sand dune also known as the ‘Singing dunes’. It has an extraordinary length of 180 km and 15-20 m wide lies on the northern part of the mountains of Sevree and Zuulen.
Day 7: Khongor Els sand dune
Stay at the Khongor Els sand dune. It is part of the desert zone, which takes up 2.7% of the country’s territory. There is an oasis near Khongor Gol at the northern edge of the sand dune.
Activities: Riding Bactrian camels, visiting a nomadic family.
Day 8: Khongor Els sand dune – Bayanzag – Ongi Monastery
Bayanzag is located near the center of Bulgan sum, and archaeological finds of the Palaeolithic Era were found here. Bayanzag is internationally famous for dinosaur remains – complete dinosaur skeletons, eggs and hatchlings of the Cretaceous Period. Dinosaur egg with diameter of 10 to 15 cm was found here in Mongolia for the first time in the world.
After visiting Bayanzag we proceed to Ongi monastery.
Day 9: Ongi monastery – Talbiun ger camp
The tour continues to the ger camp Talbiun where we spend the day. Talbiun tourist camp is located in the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape. More specifically at the beautiful scenario of Khaalgan Denj, Khujirt Sum of the Uvurkhangai Aimak the heartland of ancient nomads, on the south shore of the River Orkhon. Talbiun camp is ideally located at the main gateway to the highlights of Central Mongolia
Day 10: Talbiun ger camp – Tuvkhun Monastery – Talbiun ger camp
Tuvkhun monastery – on the peak of of the Undur Shireet with 2312 m high which locates in the boundary of Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai aimags. You can walk or ride horse to the peak of the mountain. It was erected by Zanabazar in 1654 the smooth grand of the south slope of steep rock with 20 m high and has 14 small temples. This creation of the temple has enjoyed state protection since 1998 and was registered by UNESCO in the world heritage by grading “The most wonderful valuable object” in 1996.
Day 11: Talbiun ger camp – Kharkhorin city ruins
Visiting Kharkhorin city ruins
The city was established in 1220. Kharkhorum was the capital of Mongolia for 140 years and the capital of the Mongol Empire for 32 years. The Erdenezuu monastery and ruin of Kharkhorin were registered by UNESCO in world heritage in 1996.
Major tourist attractions included in the day tour are Erdenezuu monastery, newly built Kharkhorin museum, Penis rock and the Turtle rock.
Day 12: Kharkhorin – Khorgo & Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park
The Khorgo is an extinct volcano in the Arkhangai aimag of Mongolia. It is located on the northern slopes of the Khangai Mountains. The Khorgo lies east of the lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur and together they are the core of the Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park. An notable geological feature are solidified lava bubbles, which the locals have named “basalt yurts”
Day 13: Khorgo & Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park
A day without a car – We relax on the shore of the lake in beautiful nature.
Day 14: Khorgo – Camp Jargal Jiguur
Stay at “Jargal Jiguur” tourist camp is located 100 km west from Khorgo & Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park.
Areas of attractions include Deer stone and the ancient temple’s ruin, Senjit rock and carving cave. The camp is located in the foot of forestry hills with beautiful nature views, neighboring to hot spa.
Day 15: Camp Jargal jiguur – Camp Nature’s Door
Khatgal is a village in Mongolia on the southern tip of Lake Khuvsgul. Since Khatgal is a good jump-off point for the many small ger camps along the west coast of Lake Khuvsgul, tourism is now one of the main branches of the local economy. In 2007 a new airport building was completed.
Day 16: Nature’s Door Lodge
We spend a day at Nature’s Door Lodge & Gers, visiting local reindeer herding families.
Day 17: Nature’s Door Camp – Goyol Khuree Camp
We spend a day at Goyol Khuree camp. The camp is located at 100 km from Murun to Bulgan on the shore of Selenge river.
Day 18: Goyul Khuree Camp – Uran Togoo Tulga Uul Natural Monument
The Uran-Togoo Tulga Uul Natural Monument is a national protected area in the Bulgan Province of Mongolia. It is located about 60 km directly west of Bulgan city around the extinct volcanoes Uran Togoo, Tulga Togoo and Jalavch Uul.
Day 19: Amarbayasgalant Khiid
Amarbayasgalant Khiid is a beautiful monastery located north-west of the centre of Sant Soum in the valley of the Iven River. The monastery was erected in 1727-1736 in memory of Undur Gegeen Zanabazar. It has been protected in 1943 and was registered in the world’s cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1996. There are many different types of tomb. Also there is a tourist camp “Amarbayasgalant”. Ikh Khuree was located near the Liven River in 1724.
Day 20: Ulaanbaatar
