Jeep Tour Orkhon Tal – Terelj (JT004)

Ulaanbaatar – Uvurkhangai – Ulaanbaatar 11 days / 10 nights

Short tour from Ulaanbaatar the capital of Mongolia to the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and the ancient capital city of the Mongolian Empire.

Introduction

Gorkhi – Terelj National Park is a picturesque place of high cliffs eroded in Mesozoic granites, creating a wonderful landscape of granite ‘tors’. Wind, rain, frost, ice and natural acids into bizarre shapes have eroded huge blocks of granite, as if by some giant sculptor.

Orkhon Valley is located in Central Mongolia in territory of Uvurkhangai and Arkhangai province. It was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing evolution of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two millennia in 2004. Uvurkhangai province uncludes the site of the ancient capital city of Chinggis Khan – Kharkhorin – the capital city of what was the largest Land Empire the World had ever known, either before or since.
