Itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar to Yolyn Am /Flight/
n the morning our guide and driver will meet you at your accommodation in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the airport for your flight to Dalanzadgad, center of Umnugovi aimagAfter arrival in Dalanzadgad, drive to the Yolyn Am canyon or Eagle Valley, located in the east mountains of the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountain National Park. Eagle Valley is about 60km northwest of Dalanzadgad. It is a beautiful place with clear air, cold streams and surrounded with distinctive rock formations. Ice and snow in the bottom of the gorge remains frozen until the end of the July.

Day 2 and 3: Yolyn am to Khongor Sand dunes
After breakfast we lunch drive to the Khongor sand dunes (about 200km west of Dalanzadgad), Mongolian largest and spectacular sand dunes, known as the “Singing Dunes”. You can enjoy the beautiful scene of Golden Gobi desert on the way. After arrival to Khongor sand dunes transfer to the tourist Ger camp and check-in. Khongor sand dunes is a magnificent sandpile! Hiking the dunes is unique as there is no trail. Everyone blazes their own. You’ll meet with views of Gobi desert, surrounding sand dunes upon reaching the top. As we walked along the ridge, this breathtaking scenery, stretched for miles in every direction, are unequaled any where else in South Gobi. You don’t need to have special physical training, but still you will get lots of bright impressions and emotions! Accomodation at the tourist ger camp, having rest and dinner. We will bring here another beautiful day, which you can visit the local nomad family, walk along the sand dunes, take pictures and ride camel.

Day 4: Khongor Sand dunes to Bayanzag flaming cliffs
We continue our trip to Bayanzag, bottom of Ancient Sea which excited 60-70 million years ago where a lot of Palentological findings have been discovered.The place is known as Flaming Cliffs so named by Roy Andrew Chapman American explorer, who had visited Mongolia in 1920. During the 2 years he searched through the Mongolian Gobi Desert & he found dinosaur fossils from Bayanzag, Nemekht.

Day 5: Bayanzag to Ongi Monastery
After breakfast we move to our next destination across the Ongi river in Saikhan Ovoo, district of Dundgovi province, in south-central Mongolia.

Ongi monastery Formerly one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia, was founded in 1660 and consisted of two temple complexes on the north and south banks of the Ongi River. But during 1930s the monastery was completely destroyed and over 200 monks were killed by the communists. After democracy of Mongolia in 1990, monks returned to Ongi monastery where they had begun their Buddhist education as young children some 60 years prior. These monks started laying new foundation upon the old ruins, with a vision to restore Ongi monastery and revitalize Buddhism in Mongolia.
Day 6: Ongi Monastery to Talbiun Lodge, Orkhon Valley
After breakfast we will drive to Talbiun Lodge. The lodge is located at the beautiful scenario of Khaalgan Denj, Khujirt sum of the Uvurkhangai province, the heartland of ancient nomads. We will settle in our ger lodge and have a lunch.
There we visit local nomadic families and familiarize ourselves with their everyday activities like Jack and / or mares, and taste the Mongolian milk products with their traditional Mongolian milk tea and other products like Urum, Aaruul (dried curd etc.).

Day 7: Orkhon Valley to Kharkhorin
After breakfast we will head to Kharkhorin, the capital city of ancient Great Mongol Empire. Lunch in ger camp of Kharkhorin then we will see the Kharkhorin city ruin, Erdenezuu monastery which was built on it’s ruin and visit Kharkhorin museum.

The city was established in 1220. Kharkhorin was the capital of Mongolia for 140 years and the capital of the Mongol Empire for 32 years. The Erdenezuu monastery and the ruins of Kharkhorin were registered by UNESCO as world heritage in 1996. Major tourist attractions include Erdenezuu monastery, newly built Kharkhorin museum and Turtle rock.

Day 8: Kharkhorin to Tsenkher Hot springs
Today we drive to Tsenkher hot springs of Arkhangai province. There we can relax in natural mineral water swimming pool with beautiful view.
Tsenkher Hot Springs: Arkhangai province famous for its many old volcanoes. These volcanoes explain the presence of the springs natural hot water that flows all year long at 1860 meters (1.16 mile) above the sea level. In Tsenkher soum located the Mongolia’s famed Tsenkher Natural Hot springs in 24km. This natural bounty is located 27km south of the town Tsetserleg, and in the center of the Arkhangai province. Set between green forested hills with amazingly beautiful mountains, cliffs and rapid rivers, this geographical gem emerges from the ground at 85.5°C (185.9°F). Tsenkher Hot Springs have healing properties that assist in treating articular diseases and nervous system diseases. The water composition of the hot spring is hydrogen sulfide, sodium carbonate, hydro carbonate, sulfate, and fluorite.

Day 9 and 10: Tsenkher Hot springs to Khorgo Terhiin Tsagaan Lake national park
After breakfast we will drive to the Terkhiin tsagaan lake national park and Khorgo extinct volcano in arkhangai province. We are going to spend 2 days in Maihan tolgoi ger camp located in the beach at Terhiin tsagaan lake.
This national park is the highlight of Arkhangai province and famous for its attractive scenery.
Khorgo volcano crater is situated at an altitude of 2210 m, 200 m wide and 100 m deep.The most area of the National park is covered by poplar and peach forest, where grow wild berries, rare herbs and great variety of berries and flowers. There are lots of animals such as deer, wild goat and other animals, as well as various kinds of birds.
Another spot in this National Park is Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan lake which is 16 kilometers wide, 20 kilometers in length 20 meters in depth, and 61 square kilometers in this area. The Lake is extremely beautiful with fresh water and rich species of fish and birds.

Day 11: Terhiin Tsagaan Lake to Jargal Jiguur camp
In the morning we will continue to our trip to the best highlight Khuvsgul Lake. We spend a day at Jargal jiguur camp because it is too far to drive direct to Khuvsgul. So we can eat a delicious lunch here and visit a nomadic family, ride horse or go hiking

Day 12 and 13 : Khuvsgul Lake
After breakfast drive to the largest crystal freshwater lake by volume in Mongolia, Khuvsgul lake also known as the Dalai Eej (Ocean Mother), which contain roughly 0,9% of the world’s unfrozen surface fresh water. The majestic mountain ranges of Khuvsgul, thick forests surrounding the lake, rivers and valleys, amazing and majestic nature scenery, Tsaatan are tourist attractions of their own. On our 2nd day at Khuvsgul we’ll continue observing Khuvsgul’s abundant nature and drive to the deep remotest forests of the Darkhad Basin and meet with Tsaatans ethnic minority. We’ll visit a Reindeer herder family, to experience their lifestyle, intriguing culture, traditions, shamanism religion and hospitality. Amazing contact with nature and excellent photographic opportunity.

Day 14 : Flight to Ulaanbaatar
Our driver will take you to Murun airport for your return flight to Ulaanbaatar. From Chingis Khan Airport you will be picked up by a driver and bring to the hotel. In the evening the farewell dinner shall be hosted by our company A Star Mongolia.
